5 AFP generals promoted

FIVE generals holding vital positions in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) received promotions from Malacañang.
This was announced yesterday by Col. Arnulfo Marcelo B. Burgos, chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office (PAO).
Among those promoted were Brig. Gen. Eduardo del Rosario, Commodore Edgardo D. Tamayo, Captain Alexander Lopez and Captain Crispin Mercado.
Currently commander of the Civil Relations Service of the AFP, Rosario was promoted to Major General.
General Rosario, member of Philippine Military Class 1980, was formerly assigned as the Philippine Army’s Internal Auditor and Commander of the 1003rd Brigade, 10th Infantry Division.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, J4 Commodore Edgardo D. Tamayo was promoted to Rear Admiral.
Tamayo commanded several PN vessels including the Flagship BRP Rajah Humabon and BRP Artemio Ricarte. He was an Outstanding Graduate of the Naval Command and Staff Course in 1992. Like Del Rosario, he is also a member of the PMA “Mapitagan” Class of 1980.
Promoted to the rank of Commodore are Capt. Alexander S. Lopez and Capt. Crispin P. Mercado.
Commodore Mercado is a military engineer who held important positions in the Philippine Navy.
Commodore Lopez on the other hand is currently the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff for Operations.
Promoted to Brigadier General is Col. Leopoldo B. Santos Jr., who is the current Commander of Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service, AFP. Zaida delos Reyes-Palanca
